Foundations of Fertility Nursing: Evidence Based Care for RNs (FERT)


Description
This course provides Registered Nurses with a comprehensive yet concise foundation in fertility care. It covers infertility basics, diagnostics, medication protocols, assisted reproductive technologies (ART), nursing responsibilities, and psychosocial considerations. It is appropriate for RNs working in OB/GYN, women’s health, primary care, or those entering reproductive endocrinology.

Course Learning Outcomes

- By the end of this 8-hour course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe essential reproductive anatomy and physiology relevant to fertility.
- Identify common causes of infertility and interpret basic diagnostic tests.
- Explain primary fertility medications and their mechanisms.
- Describe the steps of IVF, IUI, and related ART procedures.
- Recognize early signs of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and other complications.
- Provide evidence-based patient education and medication guidance.
- Demonstrate understanding of ethical, cultural, and psychosocial considerations.
